Our client, a 50-year-old male, has been grappling with a severe form of epilepsy since early childhood. With 2-3 seizures a day lasting between 15 seconds to 1 minute each, he faces numerous challenges. Nonverbal, non-ambulatory due to Cerebral Palsy, and with an intellectual disability, he relies heavily on his primary caregiver, his mother, for support and care.
Angela Hawkins, a seasoned caregiver with nearly two decades of experience, has been with Arosa since 2019. Recognized at the LA office as an employee of the month for her unwavering dependability and the quality of care she provides, Angela is more than just a caregiver – she is a beacon of compassion and dedication. Described as detailed, compassionate, benevolent, lively, and thoughtful, Angela consistently seeks ways to enhance the lives of her clients.
September brought a life-altering moment for our client and his mother. On one of Angela’s shifts, she noticed the client was unresponsive. Without hesitation, Angela sprang into action, immediately initiating CPR. Her preparedness, composure, and quick decision to use a mouth guard from her car to perform CPR proved to be crucial.
Angela’s keen assessment and unwavering commitment to her client’s well-being played a pivotal role in saving his life. Despite the challenging circumstances, Angela continued performing CPR until the paramedics arrived at the client’s home. Her actions not only saved the client but also brought immense relief to the client’s mother, who holds a deep love for her son.
