Meet the Team Behind the Recognition
The Arosa NC Triangle team is led by Regional Director Barbara Patterson, whose leadership has helped set a new standard for what home health care in the Raleigh and Fuquay-Varina area can look like. We sat down with Barbara to hear about her team’s recent recognition and what drives their work.

When we asked Barbara what makes the NC Triangle team so special, she didn’t hesitate.
“This team has extensive knowledge and industry experience, and they work together to ensure our clients receive the best available support and guidance. We have social workers, RNs, gerontologists, certified care managers, certified dementia practitioners, a certified national guardian, and substance abuse specialists all collaborating. It is beautiful to see the team in action.”

Care That Goes the Extra Mile: Two Stories from the Field
We asked Barbara to share a moment that captures the kind of care her team provides. She pointed to two stories.
The first involves a client living with advanced dementia and a complicated family dynamic. Rather than moving this individual into a facility, the Arosa NC Triangle team made aging in place possible by providing guardianship, care management, and nursing support alongside 24/7 home care. The team monitors and schedules family visits, coordinates doctor’s appointments, arranges yard care and home repairs, organizes in-home hair and nail services, and coordinates mobile vet visits for the client’s pet. “Whatever else pops up, we handle it,” Barbara said. “It is truly a team effort.”
The second story speaks to something just as meaningful: trust built over time. After years of providing care management for one family’s mother, the Arosa team was subsequently asked to support two sets of in-laws, then a father, then a disabled sibling. In total, seven members of a single family became Arosa care management clients. Each one referred by someone who had seen firsthand what this team can do.

That need is especially real for what Barbara describes as the sandwich generation: adults who are simultaneously raising their own children, supporting aging parents, and managing full-time careers. “It is very stressful and can cause family tension. Arosa caregivers can manage the care, allowing a daughter to be a daughter again, instead of the caregiver.”
She also points out that many clients simply value their independence. “Since many of our clients prefer not to ask their children for help, our caregivers provide the necessary assistance, whether that involves running errands, meeting friends for lunch, or helping with showering and meal preparation. Our clients get things done without burdening their children.”
